Digital Development

Introduction

OGCIO provides web/digital design, web hosting and content design services and delivers a number of web applications used across Government and beyond. These include the gov.ie portal, Digital Postbox, Single Customer View, and the Death Events Publication Service. OGCIO supports MyGovID, a single account to access government services in Ireland.

In addition, OGCIO also works with divisions across the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform and the Department of Finance to implement and enhance new and existing systems including:

  • the Single Public Service Pension Scheme Databank
  • the Pension Accrued Liability Project
  • Estimates Manager solution
  • Public Service Pay Band Data by Pension Scheme
  • the annual baseline of Civil Services HR data for the People Strategy
  • enhancements to the CS HR Databank
  • Chief Medical Officer (for the Civil Service) and Civil Service Employee Assistance Service (CSEAS) reporting
  • the Civil Service HR Health and Wellbeing Portal.

Some of the applications supported by OGCIO include the following.

Digital Postbox

The Digital Postbox provides a safe and secure way for public bodies to communicate with their customers and at the same time reduce costs and paper waste.

For citizens, it provides a safe and efficient digital option, to receive post from Government bodies quickly, to get notifications, and then to access their electronic post from anywhere at any time.

MyGovID

MyGovID is a joint initiative by the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform and the Department of Social Protection, which aims to provide citizens with a safe and secure ‘single sign on’ to their public services in Ireland. It is designed to facilitate a more joined-up Government approach, with more sharing, more reuse and more integration between public bodies. It provides access to a range of public services in Social Protection, Revenue, Transport, Education and more.

Single Customer View

The Single Customer View provides a way for public-bodies to verify elements of the Public Service Identity dataset.

The Single Customer View is delivered by the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform on behalf of the Department of Social Protection.

Data Banks

OGCIO has built a number of Databanks on behalf of the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform and the Department of Finance which provide information on: Government expenditure, the Exchequer’s monthly tax receipts and Public service numbers.

Death Events

The Death Events Publishing Service (DEPS) distributes information on death events to public sector bodies.

This information contains details on all deaths notified to the General Register Office. It is updated weekly.

ePMDS

The Performance Management Development System, ePMDS, supports the management of performance in the Civil Service.

eProbation

The eProbation system support managers assessing whether an employee on probation is suitable for a role to which they have been appointed.

gov.ie portal

gov.ie is a central portal for government services and information. It combines the websites of Irish government departments and is a trusted source that makes interactions with the government more user-focused.

G2G platform

The OGCIO provided the G2G platform for public servants to communicate with their colleagues.

It provides a consistent, accessible website that allows users to easily understand the content being distributed.

The facts on the sites are a matter for the unit who need the site. The navigation and placement of content is arranged by the OGCIO with due regard for user focus, accessibility and analytical data.
