Government recognises the important role of Cloud Computing, in particular as it supports Artificial Intelligence and other advanced and emerging technologies. The Department of Public Expenditure NDP Delivery and Reform, through the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer and the Office of Government Procurement, has published updated guidance on cloud computing to support the Public Service as its works to deliver public service transformation.

The Cloud Computing Advice Note 2019, aims to provide high-level guidance to assist organisations in making decisions in relation to the adoption of cloud services. Subject to certain considerations, Public Service Organisations should no longer decide whether to move to cloud for new or existing systems; the decision to be made now is what, how and when to move to cloud.
Considering Cloud Services 2015, aims to provide Public Bodies with advice to assist in making informed, risk-based decisions in relation to the adoption of cloud services in terms of the information and services to be entrusted to a cloud service provider, including any government cloud services that may be implemented.
